It ranks first among the works of God, the One who made it has furnished it with a sword.

The likes of it is not on earth, a creature without fear.

he does great and unsearchable things, and wonderful things without number.

If he snatches away, who can turn him back? Who dares to say to him, ‘What are you doing?’

Which of all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this,

Only in two things spare me, O God, and then I will not hide from your face:

Since man’s days are determined, the number of his months is under your control; you have set his limit and he cannot pass it.

No one denounces his conduct to his face; no one repays him for what he has done.

then what will I do when God confronts me in judgment; when he intervenes, how will I respond to him?

If you sin, how does it affect God? If your transgressions are many, what does it do to him?

“Look now at Behemoth, which I made as I made you; it eats grass like the ox.

For Job thought, “Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job’s customary practice.

So now take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and offer a burnt offering for yourselves. And my servant Job will intercede for you, and I will respect him, so that I do not deal with you according to your folly, because you have not spoken about me what is right, as my servant Job has.”
