They took their flocks, herds, and donkeys, as well as everything in the city and in the surrounding fields.

So Jacob told his household and all who were with him, “Get rid of the foreign gods you have among you. Purify yourselves and change your clothes.

Jacob and all those who were with him arrived at Luz (that is, Bethel) in the land of Canaan.

When Joseph reached his brothers, they stripped him of his tunic, the special tunic that he wore.

He said, “What pledge should I give you?” She replied, “Your seal, your cord, and the staff that’s in your hand.” So he gave them to her and had sex with her. She became pregnant by him.

The warden did not concern himself with anything that was in Joseph’s care because the Lord was with him and whatever he was doing the Lord was making successful.

When they finished eating the grain they had brought from Egypt, their father said to them, “Return, buy us a little more food.”

Doesn’t my master drink from this cup and use it for divination? You have done wrong!’”

Joseph said to them, “What did you think you were doing? Don’t you know that a man like me can find out things like this by divination?”

These are the twelve tribes of Israel. This is what their father said to them when he blessed them. He gave each of them an appropriate blessing.

Then the Lord said, “Should I hide from Abraham what I am about to do?

The servant told Isaac everything that had happened.

Then God went up from the place where he spoke with him.

What he did was evil in the Lord’s sight, so the Lord killed him too.

but the chief baker he impaled, just as Joseph had predicted.

The seven years of abundance in the land of Egypt came to an end.
