Joshua son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his choice young men, said, “My lord Moses, stop them!”

Joshua made a peace treaty with them and agreed to let them live. The leaders of the community sealed it with an oath.

So Joshua and his whole army, including the bravest warriors, marched up from Gilgal.

Joshua attacked them by surprise after marching all night from Gilgal.

Joshua said, “Roll large stones over the mouth of the cave and post guards in front of it.
