Then Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!”

Jesus looked at them and replied, “This is impossible for mere humans, but not for God; all things are possible for God.”

They said to him, “Permit one of us to sit at your right hand and the other at your left in your glory.”

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Now as they approached Jerusalem, near Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples

and said, “By what authority are you doing these things? Or who gave you this authority to do these things?”

Jesus said to them, “I will ask you one question. Answer me and I will tell you by what authority I do these things:

But those tenants said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and the inheritance will be ours!’

Then Jesus said to them, “Give to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” And they were utterly amazed at him.

Jesus said to them, “Aren’t you deceived for this reason, because you don’t know the scriptures or the power of God?

In his teaching Jesus also said, “Watch out for the experts in the law. They like walking around in long robes and elaborate greetings in the marketplaces,

Jesus said to him, “Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone will be left on another. All will be torn down!”

“You must watch out for yourselves. You will be handed over to councils and beaten in the synagogues. You will stand before governors and kings because of me, as a witness to them.

“But in those days, after that suffering, the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light;

Then he will send angels and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.

Two days before the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the chief priests and the experts in the law were trying to find a way to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him.

For you will always have the poor with you, and you can do good for them whenever you want. But you will not always have me!

So the disciples left, went into the city, and found things just as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.

While they were at the table eating, Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, one of you eating with me will betray me.”

Then Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’
