he said, “Go away, for the girl is not dead but asleep.” And they began making fun of him.

For it is not you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

“Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace but a sword.

Then Jesus began to criticize openly the cities in which he had done many of his miracles, because they did not repent.

He said to them, “Haven’t you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry –

He will not quarrel or cry out, nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets.

But he said, ‘No, since in gathering the weeds you may uproot the wheat with them.

But he replied, “They don’t need to go. You give them something to eat.”

They said to him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.”

These are the things that defile a person; it is not eating with unwashed hands that defiles a person.”

So he answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

When Jesus learned of this, he said, “You who have such little faith! Why are you arguing among yourselves about having no bread?

In the same way, your Father in heaven is not willing that one of these little ones be lost.

But he refused. Instead, he went out and threw him in prison until he repaid the debt.

Should you not have shown mercy to your fellow slave, just as I showed it to you?’

He said to them, “Not everyone can accept this statement, except those to whom it has been given.

And the landowner replied to one of them, ‘Friend, I am not treating you unfairly. Didn’t you agree with me to work for the standard wage?

It must not be this way among you! Instead whoever wants to be great among you must be your servant,

He sent his slaves to summon those who had been invited to the banquet, but they would not come.

But when the king came in to see the wedding guests, he saw a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes.
