Did not the one who made me in the womb make them? Did not the same one form us in the womb?

Or a person is chastened by pain on his bed, and with the continual strife of his bones,

He redeemed my life from going down to the place of corruption, and my life sees the light!’

For his eyes are on the ways of an individual, he observes all a person’s steps.

And further, when you say that his anger does not punish, and that he does not know transgression!

Take heed, do not turn to evil, for because of this you have been tested by affliction.

Tell us what we should say to him. We cannot prepare a case because of the darkness.

(Who has confronted me that I should repay? Everything under heaven belongs to me!)

Sing to the Lord, you faithful followers of his; give thanks to his holy name.

They made him angry with their pagan shrines, and made him jealous with their idols.

They worshiped Baal of Peor, and ate sacrifices offered to the dead.

א (Alef) How blessed are those whose actions are blameless, who obey the law of the Lord.

and how he made a vow to the Lord, and swore an oath to the powerful ruler of Jacob.

until I find a place for the Lord, a fine dwelling place for the powerful ruler of Jacob.”

and execute the judgment to which their enemies have been sentenced. All his loyal followers will be vindicated. Praise the Lord!

He stores up effective counsel for the upright, and is like a shield for those who live with integrity,

Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who obtains understanding.

Wisdom is supreme – so acquire wisdom, and whatever you acquire, acquire understanding!

I will guide you in the way of wisdom and I will lead you in upright paths.

My child, guard the commands of your father and do not forsake the instruction of your mother.
