But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (the one who was going to betray him) said,

His disciples said, “Look, now you are speaking plainly and not in obscure figures of speech!

The soldiers braided a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and they clothed him in a purple robe.

A jar full of sour wine was there, so they put a sponge soaked in sour wine on a branch of hyssop and lifted it to his mouth.

But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs.

But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and blood and water flowed out immediately.

So those who accepted his message were baptized, and that day about three thousand people were added.

But the things God foretold long ago through all the prophets – that his Christ would suffer – he has fulfilled in this way.

After an interval of about three hours, his wife came in, but she did not know what had happened.

Then they secretly instigated some men to say, “We have heard this man speaking blasphemous words against Moses and God.”

The patriarchs, because they were jealous of Joseph, sold him into Egypt. But God was with him,

So Joseph sent a message and invited his father Jacob and all his relatives to come, seventy-five people in all.

and when he had been abandoned, Pharaoh’s daughter adopted him and brought him up as her own son.

So Moses was trained in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was powerful in his words and deeds.

When Moses saw it, he was amazed at the sight, and when he approached to investigate, there came the voice of the Lord,

and was returning home, sitting in his chariot, reading the prophet Isaiah.

Immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized,

But his disciples took him at night and let him down through an opening in the wall by lowering him in a basket.

Before Jesus arrived, John had proclaimed a baptism for repentance to all the people of Israel.

When they had accomplished everything that was written about him, they took him down from the cross and placed him in a tomb.
