And such a large crowd gathered around him that he got into a boat to sit while the whole crowd stood on the shore.

Other seeds fell on rocky ground where they did not have much soil. They sprang up quickly because the soil was not deep.

But other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some a hundred times as much, some sixty, and some thirty.

He said, ‘An enemy has done this.’ So the slaves replied, ‘Do you want us to go and gather them?’

And after he sent the crowds away, he went up the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone.

Peter said to him, “Lord, if it is you, order me to come to you on the water.”

But he did not answer her a word. Then his disciples came and begged him, “Send her away, because she keeps on crying out after us.”

As a result, the crowd was amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled healthy, the lame walking, and the blind seeing, and they praised the God of Israel.

The disciples asked him, “Why then do the experts in the law say that Elijah must come first?”

Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why couldn’t we cast it out?”

Then little children were brought to him for him to lay his hands on them and pray. But the disciples scolded those who brought them.

“Which ones?” he asked. Jesus replied, “Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony,
