Again I say, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter into the kingdom of God.”

And about five o’clock that afternoon he went out and found others standing around, and said to them, ‘Why are you standing here all day without work?’

Am I not permitted to do what I want with what belongs to me? Or are you envious because I am generous?’

As Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve aside privately and said to them on the way,

The crowd scolded them to get them to be quiet. But they shouted even more loudly, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!”

Now when they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples,

telling them, “Go to the village ahead of you. Right away you will find a donkey tied there, and a colt with her. Untie them and bring them to me.

“Tell the people of Zion, ‘Look, your king is coming to you, unassuming and seated on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’”

“What do you think? A man had two sons. He went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work in the vineyard today.’

The father went to the other son and said the same thing. This boy answered, ‘I will, sir,’ but did not go.

But the tenants seized his slaves, beat one, killed another, and stoned another.

“Then they will hand you over to be persecuted and will kill you. You will be hated by all the nations because of my name.

So then, if someone says to you, ‘Look, he is in the wilderness,’ do not go out, or ‘Look, he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe him.

then the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not foresee,

‘No,’ they replied. ‘There won’t be enough for you and for us. Go instead to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’

The one with the two talents also came and said, ‘Sir, you entrusted two talents to me. See, I have gained two more.’

For the one who has will be given more, and he will have more than enough. But the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.

When Jesus learned of this, he said to them, “Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a good service for me.

I tell you the truth, wherever this gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.”

Jesus said to him, “I tell you the truth, on this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”
