because I am with you, and no one will assault you to harm you, because I have many people in this city.”

but since it concerns points of disagreement about words and names and your own law, settle it yourselves. I will not be a judge of these things!”

and said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They replied, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”

He gathered these together, along with the workmen in similar trades, and said, “Men, you know that our prosperity comes from this business.

But when they recognized that he was a Jew, they all shouted in unison, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!” for about two hours.

But Paul went down, threw himself on the young man, put his arms around him, and said, “Do not be distressed, for he is still alive!”

Then the commanding officer came up and arrested him and ordered him to be tied up with two chains; he then asked who he was and what he had done.

When the centurion heard this, he went to the commanding officer and reported it, saying, “What are you about to do? For this man is a Roman citizen.”

Paul replied, “I did not realize, brothers, that he was the high priest, for it is written, ‘You must not speak evil about a ruler of your people.’”

The commanding officer took him by the hand, withdrew privately, and asked, “What is it that you want to report to me?”

This man was seized by the Jews and they were about to kill him, when I came up with the detachment and rescued him, because I had learned that he was a Roman citizen.

“So,” he said, “let your leaders go down there with me, and if this man has done anything wrong, they may bring charges against him.”

But we would like to hear from you what you think, for regarding this sect we know that people everywhere speak against it.”

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is God’s power for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

This means it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God; rather, the children of promise are counted as descendants.

But the righteousness that is by faith says: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’” (that is, to bring Christ down)

For there is no distinction between the Jew and the Greek, for the same Lord is Lord of all, who richly blesses all who call on him.

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except by God’s appointment, and the authorities that exist have been instituted by God.

For the kingdom of God does not consist of food and drink, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

But the man who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not do so from faith, and whatever is not from faith is sin.
