Now an argument started among the disciples as to which of them might be the greatest.

But Jesus said to him, “Do not stop him, for whoever is not against you is for you.”

As he spoke, a Pharisee invited Jesus to have a meal with him, so he went in and took his place at the table.

I tell you the truth, the master will put him in charge of all his possessions.

Another said, ‘I just got married, and I cannot come.’

Watch yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him. If he repents, forgive him.

As he was entering a village, ten men with leprosy met him. They stood at a distance,

Then Jesus told them a parable to show them they should always pray and not lose heart.

Now a man named Zacchaeus was there; he was a chief tax collector and was rich.

He was trying to get a look at Jesus, but being a short man he could not see over the crowd.

and then the third married her, and in this same way all seven died, leaving no children.

But he said to them, “How is it that they say that the Christ is David’s son?

For I will give you the words along with the wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict.

For the Son of Man is to go just as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed!”

(This was a man who had been thrown into prison for an insurrection started in the city, and for murder.)

But the other rebuked him, saying, “Don’t you fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation?

I did not recognize him, but I came baptizing with water so that he could be revealed to Israel.”

He first found his own brother Simon and told him, “We have found the Messiah!” (which is translated Christ).

Now there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial washing, each holding twenty or thirty gallons.

Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the head steward,” and they did.
