Those standing near him said, “Do you dare insult God’s high priest?”

The next day they let the horsemen go on with him, and they returned to the barracks.

Then the soldiers cut the ropes of the ship’s boat and let it drift away.

When they had eaten enough to be satisfied, they lightened the ship by throwing the wheat into the sea.

However, Paul shook the creature off into the fire and suffered no harm.

Some were convinced by what he said, but others refused to believe.

and know his will and approve the superior things because you receive instruction from the law,

You who tell others not to commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples?

You who boast in the law dishonor God by transgressing the law!

For just as it is written, “the name of God is being blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”

But they are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

For if they become heirs by the law, faith is empty and the promise is nullified.

For I delight in the law of God in my inner being.

So then, it does not depend on human desire or exertion, but on God who shows mercy.

In regard to the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but in regard to election they are dearly loved for the sake of the fathers.

For the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable.

For God has consigned all people to disobedience so that he may show mercy to them all.
