“Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”

but they could not find a way to do it, for all the people hung on his words.

Everyone who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, and the one on whom it falls will be crushed.”

Now some Sadducees (who contend that there is no resurrection) came to him.

and then the third married her, and in this same way all seven died, leaving no children.

They devour widows’ property, and as a show make long prayers. They will receive a more severe punishment.”

He said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put in more than all of them.

Then they will see the Son of Man arriving in a cloud with power and great glory.

But when these things begin to happen, stand up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”

So also you, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near.

He went away and discussed with the chief priests and officers of the temple guard how he might betray Jesus, handing him over to them.

And he said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.

For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”

So they said, “Look, Lord, here are two swords.” Then he told them, “It is enough.”

When those who were around him saw what was about to happen, they said, “Lord, should we use our swords?”

But Jesus said, “Enough of this!” And he touched the man’s ear and healed him.

When they had made a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat down among them.

Then they said, “Why do we need further testimony? We have heard it ourselves from his own lips!”

(This was a man who had been thrown into prison for an insurrection started in the city, and for murder.)

But they were insistent, demanding with loud shouts that he be crucified. And their shouts prevailed.
