But he was silent and did not answer. Again the high priest questioned him, “Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?”

Jesus answered, “You unbelieving and perverse generation! How much longer must I be with you and endure you? Bring your son here.”

“The one who listens to you listens to me, and the one who rejects you rejects me, and the one who rejects me rejects the one who sent me.”

But I will warn you whom you should fear: Fear the one who, after the killing, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him!

Nevertheless I must go on my way today and tomorrow and the next day, because it is impossible that a prophet should be killed outside Jerusalem.’

So Jesus said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’

that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again.”

When he had taken his place at the table with them, he took the bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them.

But they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know the one who sent me.

“Brothers, the scripture had to be fulfilled that the Holy Spirit foretold through David concerning Judas – who became the guide for those who arrested Jesus –

and by this one everyone who believes is justified from everything from which the law of Moses could not justify you.

but that we should write them a letter telling them to abstain from things defiled by idols and from sexual immorality and from what has been strangled and from blood.

While Paul was waiting for them in Athens, his spirit was greatly upset because he saw the city was full of idols.

So Paul stood before the Areopagus and said, “Men of Athens, I see that you are very religious in all respects.

This went on for two years, so that all who lived in the province of Asia, both Jews and Greeks, heard the word of the Lord.

For all who have sinned apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law.

Is this blessedness then for the circumcision or also for the uncircumcision? For we say, “faith was credited to Abraham as righteousness.”

For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would inherit the world was not fulfilled through the law, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.

For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will certainly also be united in the likeness of his resurrection.

But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is your life because of righteousness.
