He said, “I am God, the God of your father. Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you into a great nation there.

When Pharaoh got closer, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians marching after them, and they were terrified. The Israelites cried out to the Lord,

“I will send my terror before you, and I will destroy all the people whom you encounter; I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you.

For I was terrified at the Lord’s intense anger that threatened to destroy you. But he listened to me this time as well.

There will be great earthquakes, and famines and plagues in various places, and there will be terrifying sights and great signs from heaven.

‘I am the God of your forefathers, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.’ Moses began to tremble and did not dare to look more closely.

Instead I subdue my body and make it my slave, so that after preaching to others I myself will not be disqualified.
