because he had an only daughter, about twelve years old, and she was dying. As Jesus was on his way, the crowds pressed around him.

Then Jesus asked, “Who was it who touched me?” When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the crowds are surrounding you and pressing against you!”

While he was still speaking, someone from the synagogue ruler’s house came and said, “Your daughter is dead; do not trouble the teacher any longer.”

Once when Jesus was praying by himself, and his disciples were nearby, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?”

For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.

Jesus answered, “You unbelieving and perverse generation! How much longer must I be with you and endure you? Bring your son here.”

Then they were all astonished at the mighty power of God.But while the entire crowd was amazed at everything Jesus was doing, he said to his disciples,

Stay in that same house, eating and drinking what they give you, for the worker deserves his pay. Do not move around from house to house.

What father among you, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead of a fish?

And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the person who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.

But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded back from you, but who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’

You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky, but how can you not know how to interpret the present time?

“When you are invited by someone to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, because a person more distinguished than you may have been invited by your host.

Another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going out to examine them. Please excuse me.’

The younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of the estate that will belong to me.’ So he divided his assets between them.

The man replied, ‘A hundred measures of olive oil.’ The manager said to him, ‘Take your bill, sit down quickly, and write fifty.’

Now people were even bringing their babies to him for him to touch. But when the disciples saw it, they began to scold those who brought them.

And when the people saw it, they all complained, “He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.”

And he summoned ten of his slaves, gave them ten minas, and said to them, ‘Do business with these until I come back.’

and said to him, “Tell us: By what authority are you doing these things? Or who it is who gave you this authority?”
