Then Elijah told Ahab, “Go on up and eat and drink, for the sound of a heavy rainstorm can be heard.”

He built the inner courtyard with three rows of chiseled stones and a row of cedar beams.

But Jehoshaphat asked, “Is there not a prophet of the Lord still here, that we may ask him?”

One night in Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream. God said, “Tell me what I should give you.”

The Lord will raise up a king over Israel who will cut off Jeroboam’s dynasty. It is ready to happen!

Jeroboam son of Nebat, one of Solomon’s servants, rebelled against the king. He was an Ephraimite from Zeredah whose mother was a widow named Zeruah.

He was the son of a widow from the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was a craftsman in bronze from Tyre. He had the skill and knowledge to make all kinds of works of bronze. He reported to King Solomon and did all the work he was assigned.

After this the following episode took place. Naboth the Jezreelite owned a vineyard in Jezreel adjacent to the palace of King Ahab of Samaria.

As the sun was setting, a cry went through the camp, “Each one should return to his city and to his homeland.”

He had 700 royal wives and 300 concubines; his wives had a powerful influence over him.

Take ten loaves of bread, some small cakes, and a container of honey and visit him. He will tell you what will happen to the boy.”

Nevertheless for David’s sake the Lord his God maintained his dynasty in Jerusalem by giving him a son to succeed him and by protecting Jerusalem.

Furthermore, on the hill east of Jerusalem Solomon built a high place for the detestable Moabite god Chemosh and for the detestable Ammonite god Milcom.

“Get up, go to Zarephath in Sidonian territory, and live there. I have already told a widow who lives there to provide for you.”

The woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a prophet and that the Lord really does speak through you.”
