But he replied, “Why were you looking for me? Didn’t you know that I must be in my Father’s house?”

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and the regaining of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed,

“Ha! Leave us alone, Jesus the Nazarene! Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are – the Holy One of God.”

“Everyone who comes to me and listens to my words and puts them into practice – I will show you what he is like:

Herod said, “I had John beheaded, but who is this about whom I hear such things?” So Herod wanted to learn about Jesus.

Then a man from the crowd cried out, “Teacher, I beg you to look at my son – he is my only child!

John answered, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him because he is not a disciple along with us.”

Jesus said to another, “Follow me.” But he replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”

Yet another said, “I will follow you, Lord, but first let me say goodbye to my family.”

But he said to them, “Go and tell that fox, ‘Look, I am casting out demons and performing healings today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will complete my work.

Then when she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin that I had lost.’

But when he came to his senses he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired workers have food enough to spare, but here I am dying from hunger!

So you too, when you have done everything you were commanded to do, should say, ‘We are slaves undeserving of special praise; we have only done what was our duty.’”

yet because this widow keeps on bothering me, I will give her justice, or in the end she will wear me out by her unending pleas.’”

Why then didn’t you put my money in the bank, so that when I returned I could have collected it with interest?’

But as for these enemies of mine who did not want me to be their king, bring them here and slaughter them in front of me!’”

Then the owner of the vineyard said, ‘What should I do? I will send my one dear son; perhaps they will respect him.’

They said to each other, “Didn’t our hearts burn within us while he was speaking with us on the road, while he was explaining the scriptures to us?”

Zechariah said to the angel, “How can I be sure of this? For I am an old man, and my wife is old as well.”

And he said to him, “To you I will grant this whole realm – and the glory that goes along with it, for it has been relinquished to me, and I can give it to anyone I wish.
