When Jesus perceived their hostile thoughts, he said to them, “Why are you raising objections within yourselves?

Jesus answered them, “Those who are well don’t need a physician, but those who are sick do.

So Jesus said to them, “You cannot make the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them, can you?

Jesus answered them, “Haven’t you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry –

Then Jesus said to them, “I ask you, is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath or to do evil, to save a life or to destroy it?”

When the centurion heard about Jesus, he sent some Jewish elders to him, asking him to come and heal his slave.

When they came to Jesus, they urged him earnestly, “He is worthy to have you do this for him,

So Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.” He replied, “Say it, Teacher.”

Jesus then asked him, “What is your name?” He said, “Legion,” because many demons had entered him.

After the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. So they kept silent and told no one at that time anything of what they had seen.

The expert in religious law said, “The one who showed mercy to him.” So Jesus said to him, “Go and do the same.”

So Jesus asked the experts in religious law and the Pharisees, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?”

When Jesus noticed this, he said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!

He was trying to get a look at Jesus, but being a short man he could not see over the crowd.

Then Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this household, because he too is a son of Abraham!

While he was still speaking, suddenly a crowd appeared, and the man named Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He walked up to Jesus to kiss him.

Then Jesus said to the chief priests, the officers of the temple guard, and the elders who had come out to get him, “Have you come out with swords and clubs like you would against an outlaw?

He released the man they asked for, who had been thrown in prison for insurrection and murder. But he handed Jesus over to their will.

As they led him away, they seized Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country. They placed the cross on his back and made him carry it behind Jesus.

But Jesus turned to them and said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.
