Then he will show you a large furnished room upstairs. Make preparations there.”

Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks he said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves.

But they all shouted out together, “Take this man away! Release Barabbas for us!”

For if such things are done when the wood is green, what will happen when it is dry?”

There was also an inscription over him, “This is the king of the Jews.”

He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.

But these words seemed like pure nonsense to them, and they did not believe them.

They were talking to each other about all the things that had happened.

Wasn’t it necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and enter into his glory?”

When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet.

For I too am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me. I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my slave, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at him. He turned and said to the crowd that followed him, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith!”

But they did not understand this statement; its meaning had been concealed from them, so that they could not grasp it. Yet they were afraid to ask him about this statement.

“But woe to you Pharisees! You give a tenth of your mint, rue, and every herb, yet you neglect justice and love for God! But you should have done these things without neglecting the others.

Then shouldn’t this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen long years, be released from this imprisonment on the Sabbath day?”

The Pharisee stood and prayed about himself like this: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people: extortionists, unrighteous people, adulterers – or even like this tax collector.

I tell you that this man went down to his home justified rather than the Pharisee. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

and said to him, “Tell us: By what authority are you doing these things? Or who it is who gave you this authority?”

But Jesus looked straight at them and said, “Then what is the meaning of that which is written: ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone’?

Then he took bread, and after giving thanks he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
