Jacob sent messengers on ahead to his brother Esau in the land of Seir, the region of Edom.

So the gifts were sent on ahead of him while he spent that night in the camp.

But Jacob himself went on ahead of them, and he bowed toward the ground seven times as he approached his brother.

You may live among us, and the land will be open to you. Live in it, travel freely in it, and acquire property in it.”

These were the kings who reigned in the land of Edom before any king ruled over the Israelites:

So the chief cupbearer told his dream to Joseph: “In my dream, there was a vine in front of me.

They sat before him, arranged by order of birth, beginning with the firstborn and ending with the youngest. The men looked at each other in astonishment.

So Judah and his brothers came back to Joseph’s house. He was still there, and they threw themselves to the ground before him.

God sent me ahead of you to preserve you on the earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance.

Then Joseph brought in his father Jacob and presented him before Pharaoh. Jacob blessed Pharaoh.

Then Joseph hugged his father’s face. He wept over him and kissed him.

So they sent word to Joseph, saying, “Your father gave these instructions before he died:

Then his brothers also came and threw themselves down before him; they said, “Here we are; we are your slaves.”

“No, please take them,” Jacob said. “If I have found favor in your sight, accept my gift from my hand. Now that I have seen your face and you have accepted me, it is as if I have seen the face of God.

Let my lord go on ahead of his servant. I will travel more slowly, at the pace of the herds and the children, until I come to my lord at Seir.”

God said, “Let the water swarm with swarms of living creatures and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky.”

Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God moving about in the orchard at the breezy time of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the orchard.

The Lord said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you and all your household, for I consider you godly among this generation.

and also seven of every kind of bird in the sky, male and female, to preserve their offspring on the face of the earth.

Then they said, “Come, let’s build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens so that we may make a name for ourselves. Otherwise we will be scattered across the face of the entire earth.”
