The king swore an oath: “As certainly as the Lord lives (he who has rescued me from every danger),

The king responded to the people harshly. He rejected the advice of the older men

So he started back on another road; he did not travel back on the same road he had taken to Bethel.

While they were sitting at the table, the Lord spoke through the old prophet

When the prophet from Judah finished his meal, the old prophet saddled his visitor’s donkey for him.

He removed the male cultic prostitutes from the land and got rid of all the disgusting idols his ancestors had made.

He did evil in the sight of the Lord. He followed in his father’s footsteps and encouraged Israel to sin.
