For I, the Lord, tell you what will happen to the children who are born here in this land and to the men and women who are their mothers and fathers.

“As for you, take wheat, barley, beans, lentils, millet, and spelt, put them in a single container, and make food from them for yourself. For the same number of days that you lie on your side – 390 days – you will eat it.

“‘But the children rebelled against me, did not follow my statutes, did not observe my regulations by carrying them out (the one who obeys them will live by them), and desecrated my Sabbaths. I decided to pour out my rage on them and fully vent my anger against them in the wilderness.

These are the twelve tribes of Israel. This is what their father said to them when he blessed them. He gave each of them an appropriate blessing.

Then he instructed them, “I am about to go to my people. Bury me with my fathers in the cave in the field of Ephron the Hittite.

So now, don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your little children.” Then he consoled them and spoke kindly to them.

You are to put them in one basket and present them in the basket, along with the bull and the two rams.

Anyone who touches anything that was under him will be unclean until evening, and the one who carries those items must wash his clothes, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.

Then on the eighth day she must take for herself two turtledoves or two young pigeons and she must bring them to the priest at the entrance of the Meeting Tent,

so that your future generations may know that I made the Israelites live in temporary shelters when I brought them out from the land of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.’”

because the Israelites are my own servants; they are my servants whom I brought out from the land of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.

You must number them from thirty years old and upward to fifty years old, all who enter the company to do the work of the tent of meeting.

So the Israelites did so, and expelled them outside the camp. As the Lord had spoken to Moses, so the Israelites did.

“Receive these gifts from them, that they may be used in doing the work of the tent of meeting; and you must give them to the Levites, to every man as his service requires.”

We put all of these under divine judgment just as we had done to King Sihon of Heshbon – every occupied city, including women and children.

Commission Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him, because he will lead these people over and will enable them to inherit the land you will see.”

However, only to your ancestors did he show his loving favor, and he chose you, their descendants, from all peoples – as is apparent today.

When the Lord your God eliminates the nations from the place where you are headed and you dispossess them, you will settle down in their land.

Whoever does these things is abhorrent to the Lord and because of these detestable things the Lord your God is about to drive them out from before you.

Today the Lord your God is commanding you to keep these statutes and ordinances, something you must do with all your heart and soul.
