He said to them, “How many loaves do you have? Go and see.” When they found out, they said, “Five – and two fish.”

The chief priests and the experts in the law heard it and they considered how they could assassinate him, for they feared him, because the whole crowd was amazed by his teaching.

They watched Jesus closely to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they could accuse him.

They came to the house of the synagogue ruler where he saw noisy confusion and people weeping and wailing loudly.

And Jesus ordered them, “Watch out! Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod!”

When some of the bystanders heard it they said, “Listen, he is calling for Elijah!”

Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses saw where the body was placed.

Those who passed by defamed him, shaking their heads and saying, “Aha! You who can destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days,

They came to Jesus and saw the demon-possessed man sitting there, clothed and in his right mind – the one who had the “Legion” – and they were afraid.

Now they wanted to arrest him (but they feared the crowd), because they realized that he told this parable against them. So they left him and went away.

“You must watch out for yourselves. You will be handed over to councils and beaten in the synagogues. You will stand before governors and kings because of me, as a witness to them.

Then he appeared to the eleven themselves, while they were eating, and he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen him resurrected.
