One of the experts in religious law answered him, “Teacher, when you say these things you insult us too.”

Aren’t five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten before God.

But Jesus said to him, “Man, who made me a judge or arbitrator between you two?”

so he thought to himself, ‘What should I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’

Do you think I have come to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division!

For from now on there will be five in one household divided, three against two and two against three.

“Exert every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.

Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.’

Nevertheless I must go on my way today and tomorrow and the next day, because it is impossible that a prophet should be killed outside Jerusalem.’

But Jesus said to him, “A man once gave a great banquet and invited many guests.

Whoever does not carry his own cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.

Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish the tower, all who see it will begin to make fun of him.

It is of no value for the soil or for the manure pile; it is to be thrown out. The one who has ears to hear had better listen!”

Then after he had spent everything, a severe famine took place in that country, and he began to be in need.

I am no longer worthy to be called your son; treat me like one of your hired workers.”’

But the older son became angry and refused to go in. His father came out and appealed to him,

Then the rich man said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’

Watch yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him. If he repents, forgive him.

Now on the way to Jerusalem, Jesus was passing along between Samaria and Galilee.

Then one of them, when he saw he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice.
