Now on the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there,

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world should be saved through him.

For I have come down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of the one who sent me.

So Jesus replied, “My time has not yet arrived, but you are ready at any opportunity!

The one who belongs to God listens and responds to God’s words. You don’t listen and respond, because you don’t belong to God.”

(Now it was Mary who anointed the Lord with perfumed oil and wiped his feet dry with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)

She replied, “Yes, Lord, I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God who comes into the world.”

So Pilate went back into the governor’s residence, summoned Jesus, and asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?”

Pilate also had a notice written and fastened to the cross, which read: “Jesus the Nazarene, the king of the Jews.”

He then said to his disciple, “Look, here is your mother!” From that very time the disciple took her into his own home.

So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the two men who had been crucified with Jesus, first the one and then the other.

praising God and having the good will of all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number every day those who were being saved.

While the man was hanging on to Peter and John, all the people, completely astounded, ran together to them in the covered walkway called Solomon’s Portico.

While Peter and John were speaking to the people, the priests and the commander of the temple guard and the Sadducees came up to them,

And we are witnesses of these events, and so is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.”

So the twelve called the whole group of the disciples together and said, “It is not right for us to neglect the word of God to wait on tables.

But some men from the Synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called), both Cyrenians and Alexandrians, as well as some from Cilicia and the province of Asia, stood up and argued with Stephen.

“But as the time drew near for God to fulfill the promise he had declared to Abraham, the people increased greatly in number in Egypt,

This was the one who exploited our people and was cruel to our ancestors, forcing them to abandon their infants so they would die.

This is the Moses who said to the Israelites, ‘God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers.’
