At that hour of the night he took them and washed their wounds; then he and all his family were baptized right away.

The jailer reported these words to Paul, saying, “The magistrates have sent orders to release you. So come out now and go in peace.”

When they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some of the brothers before the city officials, screaming, “These people who have stirred up trouble throughout the world have come here too,

The brothers sent Paul and Silas off to Berea at once, during the night. When they arrived, they went to the Jewish synagogue.

Then the brothers sent Paul away to the coast at once, but Silas and Timothy remained in Berea.

(All the Athenians and the foreigners who lived there used to spend their time in nothing else than telling or listening to something new.)

Now while Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews attacked Paul together and brought him before the judgment seat,

and said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They replied, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”

So then some were shouting one thing, some another, for the assembly was in confusion, and most of them did not know why they had met together.

If then Demetrius and the craftsmen who are with him have a complaint against someone, the courts are open and there are proconsuls; let them bring charges against one another there.

He immediately took soldiers and centurions and ran down to the crowd. When they saw the commanding officer and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul.

Those who were with me saw the light, but did not understand the voice of the one who was speaking to me.

When morning came, the Jews formed a conspiracy and bound themselves with an oath not to eat or drink anything until they had killed Paul.

he said, “I will give you a hearing when your accusers arrive too.” Then he ordered that Paul be kept under guard in Herod’s palace.

“So,” he said, “let your leaders go down there with me, and if this man has done anything wrong, they may bring charges against him.”

When he arrived, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem stood around him, bringing many serious charges that they were not able to prove.

When the fourteenth night had come, while we were being driven across the Adriatic Sea, about midnight the sailors suspected they were approaching some land.

To them belong the patriarchs, and from them, by human descent, came the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever! Amen.

So the person who resists such authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will incur judgment
