When Isaac planted in that land, he reaped in the same year a hundred times what he had sown, because the Lord blessed him.

He did not recognize him because his hands were hairy, like his brother Esau’s hands. So Isaac blessed Jacob.

While he was still speaking with them, Rachel arrived with her father’s sheep, for she was tending them.

Laban replied, “I’d rather give her to you than to another man. Stay with me.”

Jacob had marital relations with Rachel as well. He loved Rachel more than Leah, so he worked for Laban for seven more years.

It was also called Mizpah because he said, “May the Lord watch between us when we are out of sight of one another.

“If Esau attacks one camp,” he thought, “then the other camp will be able to escape.”

You may live among us, and the land will be open to you. Live in it, travel freely in it, and acquire property in it.”

Jacob’s sons killed them and looted the city because their sister had been violated.

They took their flocks, herds, and donkeys, as well as everything in the city and in the surrounding fields.

So they took Joseph’s tunic, killed a young goat, and dipped the tunic in the blood.

Tamar was told, “Look, your father-in-law is going up to Timnah to shear his sheep.”

The captain of the guard appointed Joseph to be their attendant, and he served them. They spent some time in custody.

When Joseph came to them in the morning, he saw that they were looking depressed.

At the end of two full years Pharaoh had a dream. As he was standing by the Nile,

It happened just as he had said to us – Pharaoh restored me to my office, but he impaled the baker.”

“Your servant our father is well,” they replied. “He is still alive.” They bowed down in humility.

Then the man searched. He began with the oldest and finished with the youngest. The cup was found in Benjamin’s sack!

They all tore their clothes! Then each man loaded his donkey, and they returned to the city.
