But as for the seed that landed on good soil, these are the ones who, after hearing the word, cling to it with an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with steadfast endurance.

They answered, “John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others that one of the prophets of long ago has risen.”

After the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. So they kept silent and told no one at that time anything of what they had seen.

Then they were all astonished at the mighty power of God.But while the entire crowd was amazed at everything Jesus was doing, he said to his disciples,

Then he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.

And I will say to myself, “You have plenty of goods stored up for many years; relax, eat, drink, celebrate!”’

So he contacted his master’s debtors one by one. He asked the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’

It would be better for him to have a millstone tied around his neck and be thrown into the sea than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin.

So when they came to the place that is called “The Skull,” they crucified him there, along with the criminals, one on his right and one on his left.

So he said to them, “You foolish people – how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!

“Here is a boy who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what good are these for so many people?”

Then, when they had rowed about three or four miles, they caught sight of Jesus walking on the lake, approaching the boat, and they were frightened.

It is written in the prophets, ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who hears and learns from the Father comes to me.

Jesus replied, “Didn’t I choose you, the twelve, and yet one of you is the devil?”

Some people said, “This is the man!” while others said, “No, but he looks like him.” The man himself kept insisting, “I am the one!”

He replied, “I do not know whether he is a sinner. I do know one thing – that although I was blind, now I can see.”

My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one can snatch them from my Father’s hand.

He takes away every branch that does not bear fruit in me. He prunes every branch that bears fruit so that it will bear more fruit.

Now this is eternal life – that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you sent.

The two were running together, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter and reached the tomb first.
