Then the Jewish leaders said to him, “This temple has been under construction for forty-six years, and are you going to raise it up in three days?”

So he asked them the time when his condition began to improve, and they told him, “Yesterday at one o’clock in the afternoon the fever left him.”

Then many of his disciples, when they heard these things, said, “This is a difficult saying! Who can understand it?”

They replied, “You aren’t from Galilee too, are you? Investigate carefully and you will see that no prophet comes from Galilee!”

You people are doing the deeds of your father.” Then they said to Jesus, “We were not born as a result of immorality! We have only one Father, God himself.”

The Judeans replied, “Aren’t we correct in saying that you are a Samaritan and are possessed by a demon?”

So his parents replied, “We know that this is our son and that he was born blind.

They replied, “You were born completely in sinfulness, and yet you presume to teach us?” So they threw him out.

But some of them said, “This is the man who caused the blind man to see! Couldn’t he have done something to keep Lazarus from dying?”

Thus the Pharisees said to one another, “You see that you can do nothing. Look, the world has run off after him!”

When they were released, Peter and John went to their fellow believers and reported everything the high priests and the elders had said to them.

So the twelve called the whole group of the disciples together and said, “It is not right for us to neglect the word of God to wait on tables.

But they said to her, “You’ve lost your mind!” But she kept insisting that it was Peter, and they kept saying, “It is his angel!”

When they had brought them before the magistrates, they said, “These men are throwing our city into confusion. They are Jews

They went to the chief priests and the elders and said, “We have bound ourselves with a solemn oath not to partake of anything until we have killed Paul.

and said to him, “Do you hear what they are saying?” Jesus said to them, “Yes. Have you never read, ‘Out of the mouths of children and nursing infants you have prepared praise for yourself’?”

But the rest said, “Leave him alone! Let’s see if Elijah will come to save him.”

They said to him, “We are able.” Then Jesus said to them, “You will drink the cup I drink, and you will be baptized with the baptism I experience,

Then they said to him, “John’s disciples frequently fast and pray, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours continue to eat and drink.”

When the men came to Jesus, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to you to ask, ‘Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?’”
