(For they were afraid, and he did not know what to say.)

He said to them, “What do you want me to do for you?”

They offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it.

But at this statement, the man looked sad and went away sorrowful, for he was very rich.

He answered them and said, “Who are my mother and my brothers?”

He asked them, “How many loaves do you have?” They replied, “Seven.”

There were about four thousand who ate. Then he dismissed them.

He told them, “This kind can come out only by prayer.”

He threw off his cloak, jumped up, and came to Jesus.

As he went along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew, Simon’s brother, casting a net into the sea (for they were fishermen).

When he came again he found them sleeping; they could not keep their eyes open. And they did not know what to tell him.

He taught them many things in parables, and in his teaching said to them:

Then he left them, got back into the boat, and went to the other side.

He took Peter, James, and John with him, and became very troubled and distressed.

Then he directed them all to sit down in groups on the green grass.

Now the next day, as they went out from Bethany, he was hungry.

and he would not permit anyone to carry merchandise through the temple courts.

Jesus asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood.

But when Herod heard this, he said, “John, whom I beheaded, has been raised!”

Then he called the crowd again and said to them, “Listen to me, everyone, and understand.
