You must not have any other gods besides me.

You must not put the Lord your God to the test as you did at Massah.

Therefore, cleanse your heart and stop being so stubborn!

However, you must not eat blood – pour it out on the ground like water.

These are the ones you may not eat: the eagle, the vulture, the black vulture,

and any winged thing on the ground are impure to you – they may not be eaten.

If you set them free, you must not send them away empty-handed.

You must not erect a sacred pillar, a thing the Lord your God detests.

Then all the people will hear and be afraid, and not be so presumptuous again.

If you refrain from making a vow, it will not be sinful.

One must not take either lower or upper millstones as security on a loan, for that is like taking a life itself as security.

If the person is poor you may not use what he gives you as security for a covering.

You must not have in your bag different stone weights, a heavy and a light one.

You must not have in your house different measuring containers, a large and a small one.

His people have been unfaithful to him; they have not acted like his children – this is their sin. They are a perverse and deceitful generation.

houses filled with choice things you did not accumulate, hewn out cisterns you did not dig, and vineyards and olive groves you did not plant – and you eat your fill,

So he humbled you by making you hungry and then feeding you with unfamiliar manna. He did this to teach you that humankind cannot live by bread alone, but also by everything that comes from the Lord’s mouth.

Bear in mind today that I am not speaking to your children who have not personally experienced the judgments of the Lord your God, which revealed his greatness, strength, and power.
