For Job says, ‘I am innocent, but God turns away my right.

God is a just judge; he is angry throughout the day.

To you, O Lord, I cried out; I begged the Lord for mercy:

Vindicate me by your justice, O Lord my God! Do not let them gloat over me!

He summons the heavens above, as well as the earth, so that he might judge his people.

Hold them accountable for all their sins! Do not vindicate them!

They remembered that God was their protector, and that the sovereign God was their deliverer.

Its branches reached the Mediterranean Sea, and its shoots the Euphrates River.

Praise the Lord, O my soul! Do not forget all his kind deeds!

Give me a desire for your rules, rather than for wealth gained unjustly.

Direct my steps by your word! Do not let any sin dominate me!

Listen, my child, to the instruction from your father, and do not forsake the teaching from your mother.

For her house sinks down to death, and her paths lead to the place of the departed spirits.

My child, do not despise discipline from the Lord, and do not loathe his rebuke.

Do not envy a violent man, and do not choose to imitate any of his ways;

Do not enter the path of the wicked or walk in the way of those who are evil.

So now, children, listen to me; do not turn aside from the words I speak.

Keep yourself far from her, and do not go near the door of her house,

My child, guard the commands of your father and do not forsake the instruction of your mother.

Do not lust in your heart for her beauty, and do not let her captivate you with her alluring eyes;
