He saw two boats by the lake, but the fishermen had gotten out of them and were washing their nets.

But some of the Pharisees said, “Why are you doing what is against the law on the Sabbath?”

When morning came, he called his disciples and chose twelve of them, whom he also named apostles:

They all ate and were satisfied, and what was left over was picked up – twelve baskets of broken pieces.

Then he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered, “The Christ of God.”

A dispute also started among them over which of them was to be regarded as the greatest.

So he said to them, “You foolish people – how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!

Jesus answered, “Are you the teacher of Israel and yet you don’t understand these things?

For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for he does not give the Spirit sparingly.

Then many of his disciples, when they heard these things, said, “This is a difficult saying! Who can understand it?”

Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life.

When they heard these words, some of the crowd began to say, “This really is the Prophet!”

Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that if you believe, you would see the glory of God?”

Now Jesus performed many other miraculous signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not recorded in this book.

And they called them in and ordered them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.

For the man, on whom this miraculous sign of healing had been performed, was over forty years old.

From the descendants of this man God brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus, just as he promised.

Therefore let it be known to you, brothers, that through this one forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you,

but Paul chose Silas and set out, commended to the grace of the Lord by the brothers and sisters.

Therefore, although God has overlooked such times of ignorance, he now commands all people everywhere to repent,
