Balak said to Balaam, “Come, please; I will take you to another place. Perhaps it will please God to let you curse them for me from there.”

Then Balaam said to Balak, “Build seven altars here for me, and prepare seven bulls and seven rams.”

Balaam said to Balak, “Did I not also tell your messengers whom you sent to me,

After the plague the Lord said to Moses and to Eleazar son of Aaron the priest,

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go up this mountain of the Abarim range, and see the land I have given to the Israelites.

The Lord replied to Moses, “Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is such a spirit, and lay your hand on him;

(30:1) So Moses told the Israelites everything, just as the Lord had commanded him.

Then Eleazar the priest said to the men of war who had gone into the battle, “This is the ordinance of the law that the Lord commanded Moses:

Then Moses replied, “If you will do this thing, and if you will arm yourselves for battle before the Lord,

So the Gadites and the Reubenites replied to Moses, “Your servants will do as my lord commands.

But the Lord told me: “Tell them this: ‘Do not go up and fight, because I will not be with you and you will be defeated by your enemies.’”

The Lord said to me, “Look! I have already begun to give over Sihon and his land to you. Start right now to take his land as your possession.”

Moreover, he said to me, “I have taken note of these people; they are a stubborn lot!

Then he said to me, “Get up, set out leading the people so they may go and possess the land I promised to give to their ancestors.”

He said, “I will reject them, I will see what will happen to them; for they are a perverse generation, children who show no loyalty.

He said:The Lord came from Sinai and revealed himself to Israel from Seir. He appeared in splendor from Mount Paran, and came forth with ten thousand holy ones. With his right hand he gave a fiery law to them.

And this is the blessing to Judah. He said, Listen, O Lord, to Judah’s voice, and bring him to his people. May his power be great, and may you help him against his foes.

Then the Lord said to him, “This is the land I promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob when I said, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ I have let you see it, but you will not cross over there.”

After Moses the Lord’s servant died, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ assistant:

The king of Jericho received this report: “Note well! Israelite men have come here tonight to spy on the land.”
