You have eaten no bread and drunk no wine or beer – all so that you might know that I am the Lord your God!

but all the leaders told the whole community, “We swore an oath to them in the name of the Lord God of Israel. So now we can’t hurt them!

Now you are condemned to perpetual servitude as woodcutters and water carriers for the house of my God.”

Joshua and the Israelites almost totally wiped them out, but some survivors did escape to the fortified cities.

At that time Joshua turned, captured Hazor, and struck down its king with the sword, for Hazor was at that time the leader of all these kingdoms.

However, Moses did not assign land as an inheritance to the Levites; their inheritance is the sacrificial offerings made to the Lord God of Israel, as he instructed them.

The land allotted to the tribe of Judah by its clans reached to the border of Edom, to the Wilderness of Zin in the Negev far to the south.
