Take note – I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse:

A truthful witness does not lie, but a false witness breathes out lies.

A lying tongue hates those crushed by it, and a flattering mouth works ruin.

Blind guides! You strain out a gnat yet swallow a camel!

Making a fortune by a lying tongue is like a vapor driven back and forth; they seek death.

You must not show pity; the principle will be a life for a life, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a hand for a hand, and a foot for a foot.

Deliver yourself like a gazelle from a snare, and like a bird from the trap of the fowler.

They set on it four rows of stones: a row with a ruby, a topaz, and a beryl – the first row;
