After he said this, Paul took bread and gave thanks to God in front of them all, broke it, and began to eat.

Now the soldiers’ plan was to kill the prisoners so that none of them would escape by swimming away.

After this had happened, many of the people on the island who were sick also came and were healed.

After three months we put out to sea in an Alexandrian ship that had wintered at the island and had the “Heavenly Twins” as its figurehead.

When we entered Rome, Paul was allowed to live by himself, with the soldier who was guarding him.

But when the Jews objected, I was forced to appeal to Caesar – not that I had some charge to bring against my own people.

Paul lived there two whole years in his own rented quarters and welcomed all who came to him,

that is, that we may be mutually comforted by one another’s faith, both yours and mine.

Now we know that God’s judgment is in accordance with truth against those who practice such things.

but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, for the Jew first and also the Greek.

But now apart from the law the righteousness of God (which is attested by the law and the prophets) has been disclosed –

namely, the righteousness of God through the faithfulness of Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction,

For what does the scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”

Not only this, but we also rejoice in sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,

for before the law was given, sin was in the world, but there is no accounting for sin when there is no law.

For the death he died, he died to sin once for all, but the life he lives, he lives to God.

So you too consider yourselves dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

For we know that the law is spiritual – but I am unspiritual, sold into slavery to sin.

For those who live according to the flesh have their outlook shaped by the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit have their outlook shaped by the things of the Spirit.

(for if you live according to the flesh, you will die), but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body you will live.
