But they have no root in themselves and do not endure. Then, when trouble or persecution comes because of the word, immediately they fall away.

“I am,” said Jesus, “and you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power and coming with the clouds of heaven.”

Each night and every day among the tombs and in the mountains, he would cry out and cut himself with stones.

His disciples said to him, “You see the crowd pressing against you and you say, ‘Who touched me?’”

They went out from there and passed through Galilee. But Jesus did not want anyone to know,

Then he began to curse, and he swore with an oath, “I do not know this man you are talking about!”

He came and raised her up by gently taking her hand. Then the fever left her and she began to serve them.

Six days later Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John and led them alone up a high mountain privately. And he was transfigured before them,

and said to them, “Go to the village ahead of you. As soon as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there that has never been ridden. Untie it and bring it here.

“You must watch out for yourselves. You will be handed over to councils and beaten in the synagogues. You will stand before governors and kings because of me, as a witness to them.

But the days are coming when the bridegroom will be taken from them, and at that time they will fast.

And looking at those who were sitting around him in a circle, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers!

And as he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it.

When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and bowed down before him.

Jesus went with him, and a large crowd followed and pressed around him.

He also said to them, “You neatly reject the commandment of God in order to set up your tradition.

And Jesus ordered them, “Watch out! Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod!”

Now as they approached Jerusalem, near Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples

So they brought one, and he said to them, “Whose image is this, and whose inscription?” They replied, “Caesar’s.”

For they said, “Not during the feast, so there won’t be a riot among the people.”
