We said to my lord, ‘We have an aged father, and there is a young boy who was born when our father was old. The boy’s brother is dead. He is the only one of his mother’s sons left, and his father loves him.’

With her dying breath, she named him Ben-Oni. But his father called him Benjamin instead.

And sons were also born to Shem (the older brother of Japheth), the father of all the sons of Eber.

Jokshan became the father of Sheba and Dedan. The descendants of Dedan were the Asshurites, Letushites, and Leummites.

The Lord said to Jacob, “Return to the land of your fathers and to your relatives. I will be with you.”

but your father has humiliated me and changed my wages ten times. But God has not permitted him to do me any harm.

Jacob’s sons answered Shechem and his father Hamor deceitfully when they spoke because Shechem had violated their sister Dinah.

The young man did not delay in doing what they asked because he wanted Jacob’s daughter Dinah badly. (Now he was more important than anyone in his father’s household.)

My father may touch me! Then he’ll think I’m mocking him and I’ll bring a curse on myself instead of a blessing.”

So Jacob went over to his father Isaac, who felt him and said, “The voice is Jacob’s, but the hands are Esau’s.”

So his father Isaac said to him, “Indeed, your home will be away from the richness of the earth, and away from the dew of the sky above.

Then Shechem said to Dinah’s father and brothers, “Let me find favor in your sight, and whatever you require of me I’ll give.

Then they brought the special tunic to their father and said, “We found this. Determine now whether it is your son’s tunic or not.”
