Now when the centurion saw what had happened, he praised God and said, “Certainly this man was innocent!”

(He had not consented to their plan and action.) He was from the Judean town of Arimathea, and was looking forward to the kingdom of God.

Then he took it down, wrapped it in a linen cloth, and placed it in a tomb cut out of the rock, where no one had yet been buried.

The women who had accompanied Jesus from Galilee followed, and they saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it.

Now it was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them who told these things to the apostles.

Now that very day two of them were on their way to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem.

but they urged him, “Stay with us, because it is getting toward evening and the day is almost done.” So he went in to stay with them.

They said to each other, “Didn’t our hearts burn within us while he was speaking with us on the road, while he was explaining the scriptures to us?”

So they asked John, “Why then are you baptizing if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”

Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two disciples who heard what John said and followed Jesus.

He first found his own brother Simon and told him, “We have found the Messiah!” (which is translated Christ).

Nathanael replied, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip replied, “Come and see.”

Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and exclaimed, “Look, a true Israelite in whom there is no deceit!”

Now on the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there,

Now there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial washing, each holding twenty or thirty gallons.

He did not need anyone to testify about man, for he knew what was in man.

But the one who practices the truth comes to the light, so that it may be plainly evident that his deeds have been done in God.

John replied, “No one can receive anything unless it has been given to him from heaven.

“Sir,” the woman said to him, “you have no bucket and the well is deep; where then do you get this living water?

Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you people say that the place where people must worship is in Jerusalem.”
