He told his sons, “Saddle my donkey,” and they did so.

Whenever the king visited the Lord’s temple, the royal guard carried them and then brought them back to the guardroom.

Jehu son of Hanani received from the Lord this message predicting Baasha’s downfall:

As she went to get it, he called out to her, “Please bring me a piece of bread.”

But Elijah said, “As certainly as the Lord who rules over all lives (whom I serve), I will make an appearance before him today.”

When Ahab saw Elijah, he said to him, “Is it really you, the one who brings disaster on Israel?”

Ahab sent messengers to all the Israelites and had the prophets assemble at Mount Carmel.

All the leaders and people said to him, “Do not give in or agree to his demands.”

But Naboth replied to Ahab, “The Lord forbid that I should sell you my ancestral inheritance.”

In the third year King Jehoshaphat of Judah came down to visit the king of Israel.

Then Jehoshaphat added, “First seek an oracle from the Lord.”

The king of Israel summoned an official and said, “Quickly bring Micaiah son of Imlah.”

But Micaiah said, “As certainly as the Lord lives, I will say what the Lord tells me to say.”

They replied, “A man came up to meet us. He told us, “Go back to the king who sent you and tell him, ‘This is what the Lord says: “You must think there is no God in Israel! That explains why you are sending for an oracle from Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron. Therefore you will not leave the bed you lie on, for you will certainly die.”’”

Elisha said, “Get me a new jar and put some salt in it.” So they got it.

So she left him and closed the door behind her and her sons. As they were bringing the containers to her, she was pouring the olive oil.

One day Elisha came for a visit; he went into the upper room and rested.

He told his servant Gehazi, “Ask the Shunammite woman to come here.” So he did so and she came to him.

The woman did conceive, and at the specified time the next year she gave birth to a son, just as Elisha had told her.

So he picked him up and took him to his mother. He sat on her lap until noon and then died.
