If it accepts your terms and submits to you, all the people found in it will become your slaves.

As for the cities of these peoples that the Lord your God is going to give you as an inheritance, you must not allow a single living thing to survive.

Your sons and daughters will be given to another people while you look on in vain all day, and you will be powerless to do anything about it.

As for the produce of your land and all your labor, a people you do not know will consume it, and you will be nothing but oppressed and crushed for the rest of your lives.

Moreover, the Lord will bring upon you every kind of sickness and plague not mentioned in this scroll of commandments, until you have perished.

“Therefore, keep the terms of this covenant and obey them so that you may be successful in everything you do.

You are standing today, all of you, before the Lord your God – the heads of your tribes, your elders, your officials, every Israelite man,

Then all the nations will ask, “Why has the Lord done all this to this land? What is this fierce, heated display of anger all about?”

That is why the Lord’s anger erupted against this land, bringing on it all the curses written in this scroll.
