So after they had assembled, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release for you, Jesus Barabbas or Jesus who is called the Christ?”

The governor asked them, “Which of the two do you want me to release for you?” And they said, “Barabbas!”

Above his head they put the charge against him, which read: “This is Jesus, the king of the Jews.”

and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut in the rock. Then he rolled a great stone across the entrance of the tomb and went away.

But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.

Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee. They will see me there.”

So they took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story is told among the Jews to this day.

Then Jesus came up and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

John wore a garment made of camel’s hair with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey.

He proclaimed, “One more powerful than I am is coming after me; I am not worthy to bend down and untie the strap of his sandals.

Now after John was imprisoned, Jesus went into Galilee and proclaimed the gospel of God.

He said, “The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the gospel!”

“Leave us alone, Jesus the Nazarene! Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are – the Holy One of God!”

When it was evening, after sunset, they brought to him all who were sick and demon-possessed.

Now immediately, when Jesus realized in his spirit that they were contemplating such thoughts, he said to them, “Why are you thinking such things in your hearts?

But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins,” – he said to the paralytic –

Then Jesus went away with his disciples to the sea, and a great multitude from Galilee followed him. And from Judea,

And whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.”

to James and his brother John, the sons of Zebedee, he gave the name Boanerges (that is, “sons of thunder”);

And as he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it.
