Surely now he has worn me out, you have devastated my entire household.

Surely mockery is with me; my eyes must dwell on their hostility.

His vigorous steps are restricted, and his own counsel throws him down.

A trap seizes him by the heel; a snare grips him.

But even if it were true that I have erred, my error remains solely my concern!

My kinsmen have failed me; my friends have forgotten me.

“This is why my troubled thoughts bring me back – because of my feelings within me.

Bear with me and I will speak, and after I have spoken you may mock.

Look at me and be appalled; put your hands over your mouths.

Can anyone teach God knowledge, since he judges those that are on high?

his body well nourished, and the marrow of his bones moist.

Will you keep to the old path that evil men have walked –

“Even today my complaint is still bitter; his hand is heavy despite my groaning.

I would lay out my case before him and fill my mouth with arguments.

The underworld is naked before God; the place of destruction lies uncovered.
