Then they came to Capernaum. After Jesus was inside the house he asked them, “What were you discussing on the way?”

Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.

Some people standing there said to them, “What are you doing, untying that colt?”

They discussed with one another, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Then why did you not believe him?’

“Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that all these things are about to take place?”

The one on the roof must not come down or go inside to take anything out of his house.

But some who were present indignantly said to one another, “Why this waste of expensive ointment?

But Jesus said, “Leave her alone. Why are you bothering her? She has done a good service for me.

Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, “Why do we still need witnesses?

You have heard the blasphemy! What is your verdict?” They all condemned him as deserving death.

Pilate asked them, “Why? What has he done wrong?” But they shouted more insistently, “Crucify him!”

Then they crucified him and divided his clothes, throwing dice for them, to decide what each would take.

Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Stand up and walk’?

But some of the Pharisees said, “Why are you doing what is against the law on the Sabbath?”

But they were filled with mindless rage and began debating with one another what they would do to Jesus.

For what does it benefit a person if he gains the whole world but loses or forfeits himself?

so he thought to himself, ‘What should I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’

I know what to do so that when I am put out of management, people will welcome me into their homes.’

Now a certain ruler asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.
