When Israel saw the great power that the Lord had exercised over the Egyptians, they feared the Lord, and they believed in the Lord and in his servant Moses.

So they put it aside until the morning, just as Moses had commanded, and it did not stink, nor were there any worms in it.

So Joshua fought against Amalek just as Moses had instructed him;and Moses and Aaron and Hur went up to the top of the hill.

and her two sons, one of whom was named Gershom (for Moses had said, “I have been a foreigner in a foreign land”),

Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, together with Moses’ sons and his wife, came to Moses in the desert where he was camping by the mountain of God.

You will surely wear out, both you and these people who are with you, for this is too heavy a burden for you; you are not able to do it by yourself.

warn them of the statutes and the laws, and make known to them the way in which they must walk and the work they must do.

‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt and how I lifted you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.

and you will be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you will speak to the Israelites.”

So Moses came and summoned the elders of Israel. He set before them all these words that the Lord had commanded him,

and all the people answered together, “All that the Lord has commanded we will do!” So Moses brought the words of the people back to the Lord.

Now Mount Sinai was completely covered with smoke because the Lord had descended on it in fire, and its smoke went up like the smoke of a great furnace, and the whole mountain shook violently.

“You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold guiltless anyone who takes his name in vain.

but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God; on it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, or your male servant, or your female servant, or your cattle, or the resident foreigner who is in your gates.

“Honor your father and your mother, that you may live a long time in the land the Lord your God is giving to you.

“You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

If she does not please her master, who has designated her for himself, then he must let her be redeemed. He has no right to sell her to a foreign nation, because he has dealt deceitfully with her.

“If a man seduces a virgin who is not engaged and has sexual relations with her, he must surely endow her to be his wife.

“Pay attention to do everything I have told you, and do not even mention the names of other gods – do not let them be heard on your lips.

“You are also to observe the Feast of Harvest, the firstfruits of your labors that you have sown in the field, and the Feast of Ingathering at the end of the year when you have gathered in your harvest out of the field.
