then the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not foresee, and will cut him in two, and assign him a place with the unfaithful.

Then he took bread, and after giving thanks he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, because Jesus was going to pass that way.

Demons also came out of many, crying out, “You are the Son of God!” But he rebuked them, and would not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.

Then he said to them, “Where is your faith?” But they were afraid and amazed, saying to one another, “Who then is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him!”

When he saw Jesus, he cried out, fell down before him, and shouted with a loud voice, “Leave me alone, Jesus, Son of the Most High God! I beg you, do not torment me!”

The people also stood there watching, but the rulers ridiculed him, saying, “He saved others. Let him save himself if he is the Christ of God, his chosen one!”

He asked for a writing tablet and wrote, “His name is John.” And they were all amazed.

They will flog him severely and kill him. Yet on the third day he will rise again.”

So he sent another slave. They beat this one too, treated him outrageously, and sent him away empty-handed.

Jesus answered them, “Haven’t you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry –

They were amazed at his teaching, because he spoke with authority.

He said, “Watch out that you are not misled. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them!
