But the worker answered him, ‘Sir, leave it alone this year too, until I dig around it and put fertilizer on it.

Then when Jesus noticed how the guests chose the places of honor, he told them a parable. He said to them,

Then when she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin that I had lost.’

The man replied, ‘A hundred measures of olive oil.’ The manager said to him, ‘Take your bill, sit down quickly, and write fifty.’

(for I have five brothers) to warn them so that they don’t come into this place of torment.’

Now at one point the Pharisees asked Jesus when the kingdom of God was coming, so he answered, “The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed,

And when Jesus came to that place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down quickly, because I must stay at your house today.”

And he summoned ten of his slaves, gave them ten minas, and said to them, ‘Do business with these until I come back.’

So they discussed it with one another, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Why did you not believe him?’

But Jesus looked straight at them and said, “Then what is the meaning of that which is written: ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone’?

He said to them, “Listen, when you have entered the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him into the house that he enters,

and tell the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?”’

but I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. When you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”

Then Jesus said to them, “When I sent you out with no money bag, or traveler’s bag, or sandals, you didn’t lack anything, did you?” They replied, “Nothing.”

While he was still speaking, suddenly a crowd appeared, and the man named Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He walked up to Jesus to kiss him.

(He had not consented to their plan and action.) He was from the Judean town of Arimathea, and was looking forward to the kingdom of God.

that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again.”

But we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. Not only this, but it is now the third day since these things happened.

They said to each other, “Didn’t our hearts burn within us while he was speaking with us on the road, while he was explaining the scriptures to us?”

and said to them, “Thus it stands written that the Christ would suffer and would rise from the dead on the third day,
