Isaac loved Esau because he had a taste for fresh game, but Rebekah loved Jacob.

“Look,” said Esau, “I’m about to die! What use is the birthright to me?”

The Lord appeared to Isaac and said, “Do not go down to Egypt; settle down in the land that I will point out to you.

Isaac said, “Since I am so old, I could die at any time.

“No,” he insisted, “but you have come to see if our land is vulnerable.”

God spoke to Israel in a vision during the night and said, “Jacob, Jacob!” He replied, “Here I am!”

Moses said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘About midnight I will go throughout Egypt,

and the Israelites went away and did exactly as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron.

The Israelites journeyed from Rameses to Sukkoth. There were about 600,000 men on foot, plus their dependants.

But everyone’s servant who is bought for money, after you have circumcised him, may eat it.

So all the Israelites did exactly as the Lord commanded Moses and Aaron.

The Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on.

Moses listened to his father-in-law and did everything he had said.

If he does not provide her with these three things, then she will go out free, without paying money.

“You are to take the second ram, and Aaron and his sons are to lay their hands on the ram’s head,

“The holy garments that belong to Aaron are to belong to his sons after him, so that they may be anointed in them and consecrated in them.

The Israelites must keep the Sabbath by observing the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant.

So all the skilled people who were doing all the work on the sanctuary came from the work they were doing

the bronze altar and its bronze grating, its poles, and all its utensils; the large basin with its pedestal;
